Over the last 6 months I have been working towards achieving my level 3 NVQ in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I built on existing skills and gained additional skills and knowledge from achieving this including; reading engineering drawings, wiring, testing electronic circuits, electronic assembly. The course followed on from my level 2 NVQ to build and expand upon my knowledge that I have gained whilst working at Aerodyn. I found the course enjoyable and flexible, allowing me to choose from a number of units those that were most suited to my role within the company as an instrumentation technician. The units I completed were:
Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements
Using and interpreting engineering data and documentation
Working efficiently and effectively in engineering
Providing technical guidance to others
Selecting and preparing materials and components for manufacturing
Assembling and wiring electronic equipment and systems
Maintaining electrical equipment/systems and general machining
Fitting and assembly operations.
I am still at college studying and working towards my BTEC level 3 which will be completed in summer 2018. Once this is completed I will have completed my apprenticeship and will be able to take a on a larger role hopefully within Aerodyn with more responsibility and independent working.
