Quality Engineer – NORTH AMERICA, INDIANAPOLIS, IN

Aerodyn Engineering is looking for a Quality Engineer to help ensure our aerospace and defense hardware meets the most exacting quality and regulatory standards in the industry. You’ll lead statistical process control, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action efforts — catching issues proactively rather than reactively — while working closely with suppliers, engineering, and manufacturing to keep quality expectations clear and consistent across the entire supply chain.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and review inspection reports to ensure conformance to drawing, specification, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform accurate contract reviews of customer purchase orders, resolving discrepancies with engineering.
  • Review outgoing shipments for document and product quality, resolving roadblocks with Shipping and Engineering.
  • Perform dimensional and visual inspection at the surface plate using appropriate measurement devices.
  • Create balloon drawings and process FAIR data packages for customer shipments and compliance.
  • Identify quality defects, generate nonconformance reports, and drive resolution across the team.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to select the right measurement equipment and methods.
  • Operate advanced optical inspection systems — GOM ATOS III Triple Scan, GOM CORE, and TRITOP photogrammetry.
  • Maintain and generate internal/external gage calibration records.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to establish and maintain quality standards.
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and regulatory teams on continuous improvement.

What Makes You a Fit

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field preferred; in lieu of a degree, 5+ years of quality engineering experience in a regulated industry (aerospace/defense preferred).
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of AS9100:D and NADCAP.
  • Demonstrated expertise in GD&T, inspection methods, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience with Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) and supplier quality management.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-directed, able to deliver under pressure and meet customer/management deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related technical field preferred, or 5+ years of equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100:D and NADCAP quality management systems.
  • Expertise in GD&T, inspection measures, and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Experience with CAPA and supplier quality management.
  • Strong PC skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word & Outlook).
  • Must be self-directed, professional, and comfortable operating independently and within a team.
  • Minimum travel required.
