Quality Plate Inspector – NORTH AMERICA, INDIANAPOLIS, IN

Aerodyn Engineering is looking for a Quality Plate Inspector to be the hands-on check on every part that comes through the door — purchased, in-process, and finished. You’ll use precision measurement tools at the inspection plate to confirm parts meet our quality program, engineering requirements, and the industry standards our aerospace and defense customers depend on.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform dimensional and visual inspection of purchased and in-process parts using the inspection plate, calipers, portable CMM, and other tools.
  • Review quality documentation and inspection reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide visual inspection of parts to confirm quality standards are met.
  • Perform second and third checks on out-of-compliance parts before a nonconformance is issued.
  • Inspect incoming supplier parts — visual, paperwork, and photos — prior to the next operation.
  • Identify and label parts for clear organization of inspection paperwork.
  • Perform and schedule manual hand tool calibration, maintaining compliance records.
  • Collect and calibrate scheduling tooling to prevent defective product.
  • Collect quotes, submit purchase order requests, and schedule outsourced calibrations as required.

What Makes You a Fit

  • 3+ years of aerospace or automotive industry inspection experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with calipers, micrometers, height gages, optical comparators, and other precision measurement equipment.
  • Familiarity with AS9100:D/ISO9001:2015.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-directed, able to deliver under pressure and meet customer/management deadlines.
  • Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of aerospace or automotive industry inspection experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with calipers, micrometers, height gages, optical comparators, and other precise measurement equipment.
  • Familiarity with AS9100:D/ISO9001:2015.
  • Strong PC skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word & Outlook).
  • Must be self-directed, professional, and comfortable operating independently and within a team.
  • Minimum travel required.
